Pay gap between men and women fails to improve

By Beth TimminsBusiness reporter, BBC NewsImage source, Getty ImagesThe average gender pay gap of all firms that reported in the past financial year is 10.4% – the same as the average of all firms reporting in 2019-20.The BBC looked at a company’s median pay gap – that is, the difference in pay between the middle-ranking woman and the middle-ranking man.This is different to unequal pay – paying women less than men for the same work – which is illegal.In all, 9,628 companies reported in time for the deadline.
